I've done a clashfinder for London 2012, which is available at http://clashfinder.com/s/london2012/. Does it work as well for a sporting event as a festival? Not sure, I'll let you decide.

Old Revisions

19/06/2011 Rev M

A few updated times, a few substituted acts (Ghostpoet instead of Gonjasufi; DJ Vimto and Jah Digga instead of Ren Harvieu). Added The Bimble Inn (disabled by default).

15/06/2011 Rev L

Mostly just mucking around with the order of stages. Lots of stages have been hidden by default because the full clashfinder is now 12 pages. To show hidden stages, click Customise > Stages and select the ones you want.

10/06/2011 Rev K

This is the one you've been waiting for -- confirmed times for 59 stages! (Did I count that right? Suffice to say, it's lots.)

06/06/2011 Rev J

Added Croissant Neuf with estimated times. They don't look right to me but I'm not sure how to fix them.

04/06/2011 Rev I

Added Arcadia from GlastoEarth. http://www.glastoearth.com/news/2011/arcadiaglastonbury2011

27/05/2011 Rev H

Added Bourbon Street. Thanks Mike!

25/05/2011 Rev G

Added The Hub and Club Dada. Removed Arcadia because I'd managed pick up last year's line-up. Doh!

20/05/2011 Rev F

Added The Snakepit, Arcadia and Bez's Acid House. I've had to shoe-horn Orbital into Arcadia on Saturday night. I have no idea what time they'll actually be playing but it'll probably be around the same time as the main stage headliners.

15/05/2011 Rev E

Added Avalon and Avalon Café from http://fieldofavalon.co.uk/lineup.html.

Added Stonebridge and Glade Lounge. The Glade Lounge line-up looks like it's missing quite a lot so the times are likely to be a long way out.

07/05/2011 Rev D

Added Leftfield from http://www.billybragg.co.uk/leftfield.php.

29/04/2011 Rev C

Added WOW, Pussy Parlure and a bit of Cubehenge. Updated Spirit of 77 and G Stage.

14/04/2011 Rev B

The main stages with times generated from last year's opening and closing times. The dance stages will have incorrect gaps because there will be some back-to-back DJ sets mixed in with the live acts.

13/04/2011 Rev A

West Holts with times based on last year. Not currently very interesting to look at.

14/01/2011 Rev Zero

Just reserving the space for the clashfinder at the moment. Stage times normally start coming out in late April/early May.

This page was created at midday on 14/01/2011. Who's going to get first post?

Hey Halvin. Nice to see things are up & running again for this year.

Not sure if this has been suggested before but I found last year that if I selected one particular gig then all appearances by that group/artist were highlighted rather than just the one I was really interested in seeing. Is there any way of switching this off?

Thanks mate & keep up the excellent work. I popped a link to here in the FAQ's a little while back in an effort to do a little mutual back scratching :o)

It was discussed last year and ended up with me saying 'that's how it should work so live with it' and then doing a u-turn and modifying the site anyway.

The control box in the top right has got a control that switches between 'Highlight One' and 'Highlight All' to highlight one or all occurrences of an act respectively.

Missing stages11:39 17th Apr 2011

Are there plans to include all of the smaller stages, tents and fields in the clash finder? Avalon, The Hub, Club Henge, The Pussy Parlure, Club Dada, Theatre & Circus etc...? It looks like that's where a lot of the most interesting stuff will be happening so I'd love to know how it all fits in with the acts on the bigger stages.

Yes, once I've got the running orders for those stages. For an idea of what to expect, look at the 2010 clashfinder at http://www.clashfindergeneral.co.uk/s/g2010/

Hi Hal, Excellent work as always! You're an institution!

Just a quick question, the 'customise your clashfinder' button doesn't seem to be do anything. I used it last year and it was a quality feature. Just wondered if you've taken this down or is it my computer? Tried the 2010 clashfinder as well and that didn't do anything either. Cheers, keep up the sterling work!

If you've got javascript enabled (if you're not sure then you probably do), the customise button will create a pop-up window with the settings in it. Your browser's probably blocking the pop-up. What browser are you using? Do you get any message about a blocked pop-up when you click the button?

I guess I should change the pop-up window to something else (because they're a horrible way of doing things) but I haven't got around to it yet.

I'm using IE7. Tried at home and at work but no joy. No messages about blocked pop ups. Can't change any settings at work so will have to try again at home later. Cheers.

I see the problem -- there's a bug in IE's javascript that was causing an error on the page. I've hopefully got it sorted now.

Chrome and landscape printing - if you print to a file (using PDF Creator, XPS Image Writer or similar) you can sometimes specify landscape page orientation. Then print the resultant PDF, XPS whatever on paper... landscape of course.

After I'd put the film up, a mate said to me - people think you're being funny - they don't realize you mean it all and its a cry for help. He was right of course - Some people say Glastonbuty changes your life. I say Clashfinder changes your Glastonbury.

Let me join you in giving thanks, especially for stilling having 2008 on line - vital for getting the details of that Uber clash right - it still hurts, and I'm still hoping for a Hillage/Vega shift this year.

rogues11:06 5th May 2011

Just another thank you, last years Glasto oe was a life save, i took it out so many times and it now lives in my memories box!! Ha. Love all the highlighting/customisation and shizzle, didnt realise this was available. Cant wait to print it off, i know the festival's close when that happens.

thanks!

I'm not sure what might be going wrong. It seems to be working like that for me.

What browser are you using? Are you clicking the Facebook button or copying the URL from the address bar? Does the address in the URL box in the Sharing section read the correct thing? What's your short UID? (You can find that in the sharing section.)

I've made a change so that, if you've recently saved or restored, the page address refers to your saved file rather than the individual highlights. The advantage of this is that, if you change your highlights, the link you posted will show the new highlights. An address pointing to a saved file will have "user=" towards the end.

That's linking correctly to your saved location but you've got a blank clashfinder saved.

Using IE8, if I highlight a few acts, I get this address: http://clashfinder.com/s/g2011/#hl1=bellak(1),bennyt(1),ronit(1)

I click save and I get this address: http://clashfinder.com/s/g2011/#user=004awp.dg

The URL box in the sharing section has this address: http://clashfinder.com/s/g2011/user=004awp.dg&

All three of those addresses ought to give a clashfinder with the first three acts on PP highlighted. There might be a race condition with the first two where your saved clashfinder is auto-restored before the hashed highlights are restored but that wouldn't happen if you clicked the Facebook button or copied the URL from the sharing section.

What version of IE are you using? I know funny things have happened with IE7. I don't have an install of IE7 because Microsoft don't allow you to run multiple versions of IE.

That should be sorted now.

I've got to say that I found the clashfinder page ran *really* slowly on IE9. I'm not sure if it's my setup or that IE can't handle all those act boxes, but Firefox, Chrome and Safari all cope much better.

Here's a link if you want to try Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/

Noticed your update about Orbital at Arcadia on Saturday. I believe Orbital are DJing (tracks from their new album!!!) from around 12.30am onwards. They definitely are not playing during the headline acts.

Hey LL,

You're right, I've been told that on Facebook too (clicky: http://www.facebook.com/glastonburyclashfinder ). My reasoning for them being on at the same time as the headliners was that there'd be crowd control issues if they weren't on at the same time as the headliners. I guess there's not going to be such a problem because they're controlling the numbers of people going into the area.

halvin22:55 25th May 2011

... so that means it's going to be Chemical Brothers or Orbital, sadly.

Chems for me, I think.

That's not working, unfortunately. Google misses the user=xxxxxx.xx bit because it's not expecting an extra parameter to an iCal file. Escaping the ampersand hasn't worked.

If you change /event/ to /eventupdate/ in the URL you're using to retrieve the data, you'll just get the last modified date (in GMT) and you'll know whether you then need to reload the full data set.

Example:
http://clashfinder.com/data/eventupdate/g2011.xml

It works if you use a URL compressor on the second part of the URL (after cid=). E.g. http://www.google.com/calendar/render?cid=http://goo.gl/XXX
A little bit of scripting would be needed to convert the URL on the fly. E.g. http://scripting.com/stories/2007/06/27/tinyurlHasAnApi.html
The Google Calendar view doesn't seem to be 'live' though - it didn't change when I added some new acts. I suspect Google is caching the ical file.

It looks like it works if you replace the ampersands with %26. I could have sworn that didn't work before. For some reason, google's unable to get the event name that way but the highlighted acts appear.

I'm out of the country at the moment and ftp doesn't seem to be working for me. I'll upload the change when I get home.

orange glasto app now says official times for all stages will be released on the 13th.

They're not supposed to have said that. Basically, we've entered the period where I'm not allowed to tell you anything.

Keep an eye out for updates early next week.

If customise the clashfinder to remove some of the stages - when I click the button to confirm my changes the popup disappears but the clashfinder does not return

What browser are you using? I've just tried it and it worked for me.

What's the address of the clashfinder page after you've clicked the submit button in the customise popup?

_15:56 13th Jun 2011

I've cleared it and started again. Just customising the stages worked this time. But then I highlighted a few bands and customised again and it wouldn't load.

But I cleared it again and then couldn't reproduce the problem.

I'm on Firefox 3.6.10. I'll let you know if it happens again, working for now.

Helen10:18 14th Jun 2011

Amazing amazing thank you for every year!

paul13:49 14th Jun 2011

the bands names are not printing, the box is empty, I have got background printing on and have used firefox and internet explorer, any help appreciated

When will the pdf be updated to reflect to full line up? My work computer can't cope with the site otherwise, and i'm desperate to do damage with a highlighter....

It has been updated -- it's Rev K now. I expect your browser is serving up a cached version. Try shutting down your browser and starting again.

Hi Halvin,

just noticed that Safari does not seem to be printing properly. only comes up with two blank pages. Worked fine last year. (have print backgrounds checked)

Firefox seems to be working ok.

I will try seeing if there is something up with my settings but seems correct at the moment.

Thanks for the hard work!!

James

I know, Chrome and Safari aren't working this year (not that Chrome's ever printed properly). It's not anything that I've done to the site so it must be the browsers.

Pish23:15 16th Jun 2011

Thanks for all your hard work this guide is invaluable, I have spotted a change which you may like to know of, Ren Havieu due to play introducing stage 14.15 saturday has been replaced by a DJ set after she had a accident.

audiomatte20:34 19th Jun 2011

if anyone's interested in some glasto mappy things, I've made a gridded map, a stage guide with grid refs for most stages, and a distance index so you can get an idea of how far it is between stages. nice accompaniment to halvin's incredible work
get the PDFs (in a ZIP file) here: https://www.yousendit.com/download/UnlBc2ZBNDRFd2RjR0E9PQ
ridiculously excited now. we'll be there in 3 days

That's brilliant! I was considering doing something similar myself but you've saved me the trouble.

On suggestion: you've coloured the x & y references on the map, it'd be useful to colour them the same on the stage key so you know which is which.

audiomatte23:48 19th Jun 2011

great idea! updated version here... https://www.yousendit.com/download/UnlBc2ZPUzdqV0N4dnc9PQ

Very minor changes. If you were planning on going to see Gonjasufi or Ren Harvieu, they're now not playing. Otherwise don't worry about it, bunter.

Freeak12:22 20th Jun 2011

Hi Halvin,

There have been a fair few changes made recently to the line ups page. Are you using change detection to pick them up?

Well found, freeak. I've done a ninja-edit of the clashfinder.

Hopefully that's the last (I'm sure it won't be).

The change detection website is great, im using it to monitor the lineups of a Wireless and Sziget festivals too.

Hey guys,

Just a note to say that the google calendar export is set at GMT +0 instead of GMT +1 (British Summer Time with Daylight Saving).

As such all my events appear an hour late!

Is this easily fixed?

Thanks for all your hard work!

Oh arse. I thought I'd sorted that out. I'll try to sort that out tomorrow if I get a chance.

That should be sorted now. It looks like Google Calendar caches the imported calendar, even if you remove and re-add it. I'm not sure how you get around that one.
